Volume 1 of the werebird consits of 10 shorts. witness as nicholas makes his shocking transformation for the first time, and his best friends Joshua and matthew try to desperately keep him safe
from a crazed man who is desperate to hunt and kill a werebird for media attention.
Episode 1: Sunflower

Cold Opening: Nicholas gets a new journal. he explains that the previous night before, he was bitten by a "Weird looking crow".
the next day, matthew is convinced that nicholas has become a werebird after reading about it in a book. Josh doesn't believe him, until they go to nicholas house to prove it.
Episode 2: I'm Sorry

Cold Opening: A Witch back in 1933 Infects a crow with a potion she has casted, causing it to have red like pupils.
After Nicholas transforms into a werebird for the first time, a sudden car alarm outside freaks him out and he escapes by jumping through the window. josh goes after him while matthew tries to call his parents. meanwhile, it is implied that Nicholas attacks a couple of drug dealers in the city. matthew encounters the witch as well, with a short strange conversation. Josh finds nicholas in which he extends his talons, ready to attack. Josh defends himself by throwing his shoe at him. this makes nicholas feel awful for what he has been doing, and begins to cry. Josh feels apologetic. The episode ends with police sirens.
Episode 3: Control

Cold Opening: Nicholas wakes up the following morning, tired and disorentated. there, Matthew and Josh tell nicholas of what he is. he faints.
Josh begins to question on how his life will become due to this. afterwards, the three boys try to devise a plan on what to do. after nicholas makes his second transformation, they learn that he was on the news with the headline article reading, "Giant Wild Bird on the loose? One Injured!"
Episode 4: Enemy

Cold Opening: A Strange man in a bar comes across the news report about the supposed "Giant Bird". He believes he has found what he has been looking for a long time, and leaves.
Meanwhile, Matthew becomes mad at nicholas for getting himself on the news, but josh reminds him that when he's a werebird, he has no memory on what he's doing. afterwards, Josh and matthew begin to teach him how to properly use his beak. during this, the man visits one of the injured drug dealers in the hospital, and goes to a gun store afterwards, and purchases a shotgun. the man reveals himself to be daniel. an obessed, deterimned and utterly insane hunter, who wants nothing but the werebird to be dead, for fame and recongnition.
Episode 5: Caw

Cold Opening: Nicholas recieves a phone call from his mother.
Josh leaves nicholas alone one night, so that he can fully appericate his surroundings. a local crow comes down, thinking nicholas is one of his own species, and shows him around the lifestyle. soon, nicholas grows into accpetance. the next morning, he reveals to josh and matthew that he's starting to gain some memory of what's been happening.
Episode 6: Secret

Cold Opening: A Flashback to episode 2, which reveals that the witch was the one that caused the car alarm to happen, making nicholas freak out, and escape.
Nicholas buys some sunflower seeds at a supermarket in which a clerk asks if he has any pet birds. disturbed by the question, he messages josh about it. soon afterwards, the police shows up to ask him some questions. stress and pressure begins to settle in. daniel stands and stalks each house on the street, feeling as though he's getting close on finding "The Werebird".
Episode 7: Help

Cold Opening: The Witch sees daniel waiting outside nicholas house and poses him as a threat. to stall him, she turns into a cat, and slashes his cheek. she heads off to nicholas.
While in the backyard, nicholas sits naked, waiting for the full moon. the witch meets with him, briefly introduces herself, and explains that a man is coming to kill him. she then fades away. nicholas freaking out, transforms into a werebird, as daniel watches him. he gets a clear shot, until nicholas flies away. daniel becomes enraged that he loses contact with the werebird again, and pleads jack for help. he heads to matthew's house, and utters his first word. confused and stunned, matthew let's him in. Isabella continues to watch all of this, becoming more impressed with nicholas.
Episode 8: Closer

Cold Opening: Jack meets up with john in the streets. John expects to be making a drug deal, but instead, jack warns him to go home, and that it's not safe. after getting irritated, he leaves. john reveals he is scared when he calls his mother to pick him up.
Josh comes over to hear about what happened with nicholas. he becomes terrified after hearing the fact that daniel is coming to kill him. meanwhile, daniel himself makes another plan to go after the werebird, thinking of going after his friends.
Episode 9: Confess

Cold Opening: Josh has a terrifying nightmare of the werebird actually killing him. he wakes up completely overwhelmed in fear.
when the rain clears up, matthew goes over to check the gunshot hole in nicholals house. jack shows up to warn him, telling him he quit being a drug dealer. at the same time, josh wakes up and acts uneasy around nicholas, untimately confessing to him that he no longer wants to be around him. sadden by this, nicholas leaves. when matthew shows up and josh regrets his decision, daniel bursts in, and kidnaps them both, showing that matthew was forced to tell there location.
